The Send-A-Kid To Camp Program is an initiative of the Garifuna Institute for Research and Indigenous Understanding (GARIU) that provides deserving children between the ages of 5 and 14 with the opportunity to attend summer camp. Some parents cannot afford the cost of sending their children to camp, and some children live in violent or abusive households.
The Send-A-Kid to Camp program covers the cost of attendance so that financial constraints do not prevent any child from participating in an enriching summer experience. With this program, children who otherwise don’t have the opportunity to enjoy such an experience get to live out the fun, freedom, and excitement that summer camp brings. In addition to fun activities such as drama, music, sports, and games, the children also learn valuable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. With Send-A-Kid To Camp, deserving children get to just be ‘kids.
Consider donating to support the Send-A-Kid To Camp program and help ensure that more children get to enjoy the benefits of a summer camp experience.
