GARIU Indigenous Youth Progress Nest Self Development Workshop 2022
The GariU Indigenous Youth Progress Nest Self Development workshop held at Barretts Peraansah each as a resounding success thanks to the intertwined arms , heart, and passion of collaborating adults who have committed to building and keeping a secure nest to support and protect our youths.
I take this opportunity to express my immense gratitude to my husband Everald Barrett for funding the event, our facilitators for providing such motivating presentations – Marshal Nunez, Disabilities Desk Coordinator, Ministry of families, Pastor and counsellor Agatha Lambey and Gulisi Primary school teacher and Garifuna activist, Marsha E. Mejia, Georgetown Primary school Principal Desmond Ramirez Rama Ramz, Seine Bight primary school Principal Lorris Moreira and Georgetown Technical High school (GTTECH) Principal, Ervin Casimiro for their unwavering support, high school teachers and liaison to the IYPN Jessie Williams, SB primary school, Aniki Lambey, GT primary school, Luwani Lambey, Independence High School (IHS) and. Ms Linarez from GTTECH, Kirwin Ramirez , Seine Bight Village Council Vice Chairman, registration desk volunteers Imunique I'munique Stevens, Daena 'Anita Castillo, parent representatives Ms. Yoli Sandoval, Seine Bight and miss Data from Georgetown, Auntie Shushu and Verns kitchen Verna Marin for preparing the food, Clara lambey, for providing Sahaü and the drummers for doing to the atmosphere and Orvin Paulino- Empire Funeral Home, for very professional services providing tents, tables and chairs.
Most importantly, thanks to all parents who are a part the fabric of the nest, all our beautiful youths who participated and all who contributed to the success of the event. May the blessings of Allah be with you during this season. Wishing everyone a fruitful new year.

In his well received presentation, Mr Nunez engaged the students in a high level discussion on resilience in the face if adversities. When asked wht resonated with them Georgetown Technical High school student Latisha Ramirez said that she was moved by Mr Nunez saying that he is blind but he has vision mshe suported her point by adding that ” Many people are can see but have no vision. She then urged those who are not blind to also have a vision about about what they wish to accomplish in the future.
