Code Of Conduct

GarIU strongly believes in the power of setting an example in character and manner of operating in order to build a world based on virtues, as envisioned by the Garifuna Nation and inherent in the Ancestral Garifuna Mental Model (TAGMMODE). In order to encourage an ever-increasing appreciation for the practical application of TAGMMODE in the operations and interactions involving GarIU and its personnel, the institution will be holding periodic reflection gatherings, including meetings, workshops, and conferences. This is an important step towards ensuring that all members of the GarIU community are able to integrate TAGMMODE into their daily lives and work. Additionally, GarIU will be incorporating TAGMMODE in all courses delivered under its auspices, demonstrating its commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of Garifuna culture and values.

GarIU operates under a strong code of conduct, which is guided by unalloyed professionalism, honesty, mutual respect, and freedom from prejudice. This includes a commitment to eliminating religious, racial, economic, gender, and color prejudices from all aspects of GarIU’s operations. By prioritizing these values, GarIU ensures that its entire community is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all.
